ART EVOLUTION GALLERY Gallery Closing at Chapel 4

WHAT HAPPENED?? That is the question I have been getting from many. Well, this is why I am authoring this email.

As many of you know I have been running a gallery at Chapel 4 in Delray Beach for over two and a half years, first for Plein Air Palm Beach and more recently for Art Evolution Gallery. Both of those organizations continue to thrive. Art and Artists will continue to find a way to communicate.

Chapel 4, originally a World War II chapel, is referred to many as a church and thought of as a community resource although until bought by the current owner, it was falling into disrepair and had not been in use for over 10 years. The owner was seeking adaptive reuse of the “church” while keeping its historic designation by requesting more restrictive land use and zoning designation. This request in no way has impact on the historic designation of the building. Yet, the Delray Beach City Commission in a 3:2 vote denied the request.

Chapel 4 is now undergoing major renovations, thus the exhibit had to be taken down, to make it ready for the new business plan. I am thankful to all the artists who took part in “Contemporary Realism” exhibition and to the great reception it received by local art enthusiasts. Although disappointed in losing the exhibit space, I am forever grateful to Cheryl Forman, owner of Chapel 4, historic preservation advocate and art lover for enabling a space where art could speak for itself, and cultural justice was manifest.

Art Evolution Gallery will continue with online exhibits at artevolutiongallery.com and when renovations at Chapel 4 are complete they may have pop-up exhibits in the beautiful chapel. Other venues of connecting evolving artists and savvy collectors will also be pursued.

INVITATION to Opening Reception of Contemporary Realism Exhibit

Contemporary Realism is a strong art movement today, often in conflict with advocates of abstract inpressionists. In some ways we are reminded of the rise of impressionists in the 18th century despite opposition from the art establisment and art guilds. The movement signified a return to a straightforward representation of life via figurative artworks. A loosely connected and disparate group of initial artists borrowed heavily from roots embedded earlier by the 19^th century painters who aimed to depict the real rather than the ideal. Yet these new artists, proficient in modern art, employed this mission in a decidedly fresh fashion that built upon tradition while incorporating a contemporary sophistication and techniques in line with the current times. Reality suddenly became cool again swathed in the unique perspectives of artists working with, and documenting, their own experiences within a 21st century world.

Art Evolution Gallery is pleased to announce its premiere exhibit taking place October 12 through November 16th, 2024. The exhibit “Contemporary Realism” will feature artwork from local South Florida artists creating representational art in a variety of styles. The gallery, located in Chapel 4 at 200 SE 7^th Ave., in Delray Beach Marina district has been r a hidden gem of a galley by art enthusiasts, collectors and visitors to the galley. For the past two years Chapel 4 has held exhibits of Plein Air artwork from Plein Air Palm Beach art group. While Art Evolution Gallery will continue to feature local plein air artists who are world class plein air artists, we will be expanding to include still life, figurative and other representational artwork in the contemporary realism style. All applications for exhibits are juried by a curatorial team ensuring savvy collectors can expect to find the best artwork available in the area. The Art Evolution Gallery will also have an online gallery for each exhibit showcased at the Chapel 4 location. While the Chapel 4 exhibits will change out periodically, the online exhibit will persist so that artists can continue offering their artwork in an ongoing manner. Additionally, artists may opt in to the Art Evolution print on demand site, so there is something for all art lovers and collectors who want to live with artwork that resonates with them, from one-of-a-kind originals to prints, all at affordable prices.

The fifth annual Plein Fun Fest is coming up this weekend. After 4 years of co-chairing it, I'm FINALLY getting to paint in it, and would LOVE to see you there for the reception and art sale. This eveing is the culmination of the Silent Art Auction and competiton paintings all for sale!! Our plein air artists are real troupers. They came on Friday Feb 1, to paint despite the pouring rain. Some truly beautiful paintings were done that you just have to see. They will be back on Saturday Feb 2, RAIN or SHINE to create more beautiful art work.

Given that the grounds were soaked we decided to move the Silent Auction, ART Exhibit and Reception for Saturday inside. It will all take place in the Field House.

No need to worry about getting wet, the garage is a few steps from the Field House which is on the grounds of Old School Square with an entrance on NE 1st Street.

SATURDAY FEB 2, 2019 - Boynton Uke Society starts playing at 5 PM, the reception with food and cash bar begins at 5:30. Silent Auction ends at 6 PM. We continue on with food, wine, fun and merriment until 7:30 pm.

Please Come to support the artists. You will be amazed at the beautiful work that can be done in the rain. So much so you will probably want to take one home. No worry they will all be for sale.

There will be 24 hr long silent auction and sale of still wet paintings both culminating at the Saturday night reception. To all Florida Collectors, Artists & Art Lovers - it is time for Plein Fun Fest again. I am again co-chairing this event with Lorrie B. Turner for Plein Air Palm Beach. The event is being held next weekend. We have something new this year a Slient Auction of plein air paintings created on Friday Jan 26, the kick-off day for the festival. Bidding will be available Friday evening at 6:30 PM till about 8 PM and all day Saturday Jan 27. Bidding will close at 4 PM just before the gala reception will begin. At the reception we will have all the paintings in the Saturday competition, some of them still wet, available for sale and the awards reception. A local ukulele group will be providing music to add to the merriment. There will be food and a CASH BAR EXCEPT for INVITED GUESTS. And this is your invitation, so look for volunteer to direct to where you can receive a stylish pink paper bracelet so the bar tenders know you are a VIP-invited guest.

Here is the evite, so save it to your phone, print it out or just tell the bracelet volunteer which artist invited you. I am so excited about this and I really hope to see you there on Saturday evening.
