I was at Art on the Square in Delray Beach as the coordinator for Plein Air Palm Beach. Getting the tent setup went smoothly on Friday afternoon, but it was windy cold, and rainy on Saturday. Sunday was a beautiful day. It is great to show off beautiful plein air paintings. Several artist attendees said they had been looking for a plein air group so were happy to get info about PAPB.

I was happy to exhibit some of my paintings and was pleased at the comments I got. Unfortunately this did not translate into sales. Oh well. Here are some of the paintings I exhibited at Art on the Square.

preliminary sketch of buildings in Old Havana

John and I went on a cruise that had an overnight in Havana Cuba. It was a great trip and was wonderful to visit Old Havana although it is sad to see such urban decay in some otherwise beautiful buildings. I did bring all my sketching supplies with the intent of documenting my travels. I did some practice sketches of buildings before going and studio painting of the same buildings upon returning home.

I did take lots of photos for reference for future painting. And I did do some plein air painting of the NCL private island , Great Stirrup Cay, from the balcony of our stateroom .

Additionally, I did some “plein lazy” painting by projecting a nocturnal image of Basilica Menor de San Francisco de Asis onto the TV set in the state room from my cell phone. It was great to paint in comfort on an “at sea day”, and my arthritic joints appreciated the “plein lazy” approach.

Went to Plantation today to paint the bougainvilleas. Me and my fellow plein air painting buddies were at the Deicke Auditorium and across the street there was a hedge of bougainvilleas that were in bloom. so much fun to be outside before it gets hot and just painting beauty.

Despite the rain on Friday, some beautiful paintings were done and we still had fun the whole weekend. Thanks to our partner Old School Square, all our sponsors and volunteers.

I lead a group on Fine Art America, also known as Pixels for plein air paintings.  I just updated the image submissions and was impressed with the beauty of our natural world expressed by plein air painters.  Take a look.

After joining the Bryan Gallery in Jeffersonville I decided to take a plein air workshop by Eric Tobin offered through the Bryan Gallery.  It was a lot of fun, met some  great artists and I learned some things.  Here are some pics from the workshop and the paintings I did during it.

I had a great summer painting in Vermont.  The people I paint with got together about 1x per week to paint.  We again worked with the Orleans County Natural Resources team to paint at Conserved Farms.  There will be an exhibit of the work at the Eastside Restaurant during November and December after which the exhibit will travel to the new home of Greater Barton Arts.

We also painted all around Newport in preparation for the MAC Exhibit “Newport!” which opened Sept. 14th, 2018 and goes until Oct. 28th, 2018.

As part of MAC involvement in the community I have several paintings at North County Hospital in Newport VT. One even sold this Fall. Yeah!!

Finally I have a collection of paintings at NEK Physical Therapy

John and I joined a travel club as we intend to do some travelling.   Remembering our escape to Jamaica from snowy Boston, we decided to book a trip to Jamaica.  It is not the same as coming from Florida as the weather is about the same but it was a good get away.  Unfortunately our room was right on the ‘entertainment’ pool and bar and it was very loud in our room all day long.  But I did manage to do some painting and photography of our stay.
